Northern Beaches College officially opens ceramics facility
The new Ceramics facility at TAFE NSW – Northern Sydney Institute, Northern Beaches College was officially opened last Thursday, 22nd November.
Teachers and students gathered together with Labor MLC, Kayee Griffin, The Hon Bronwyn Bishop, and a host of artist’s, industry professionals to mark the opening of new state of the art facilities.
The 2.3 million dollar exhibition and training space includes new equipment, improved lighting, an improved workshop design, two new wood fired kilns, two raku kilns, as well as additional electric, natural gas and LPG gas kilns.
Ms Griffin said the refurbished ceramics facility would provide training to people looking to pursue a career in the ceramics industry.
“Through a variety of workshops, multi-function areas and exhibition spaces, this leading-edge facility will encourage creativity and produce outstanding graduates for the ceramics industry,” Ms Griffin said.
“Graduates learn skills for careers in industrial ceramics, mould making and slip casting as well as traditional small business ceramics.”
“I congratulate TAFE NSW – Northern Sydney Institute, Northern Beaches College on the completion of these world-class facilities which will serve students and staff well into the future,” Ms Griffin said.
