Applying for recognition |
 |
When to apply?
The best time to apply for recognition is at the time of, or soon after enrolment. It is recommended that you apply no later than the third week following the start of a module/unit.
- you can prepare for recognition prior to enrolment or when enrolling in your course.
- during your course you can apply for recognition before the start of any module/unit.
- you must attend classes for that particular module/unit UNTIL you received notification that your application for recognition has been approved.
People who are not enrolled in a TAFE NSW course can apply for recognition at any time during the year.
How long will my application take?
You will receive written notification within three weeks of lodging your application for recognition. A qualified assessor will review your application and look for evidence that is relevant, authentic, recent, and sufficient. The evidence you provide must demonstrate that your skills and knowledge have met the learning outcomes/competencies of the modules/units for which you have applied.
What will recognition cost me?
Enrolled TAFE NSW students can apply for recognition at no additional charge.
Non-enrolled applicants may apply for recognition. Where recognition is assessed prior to enrolment, a fee will apply. The fee will be determined in accordance with the Commercial Recognition Policy. For full details view Commercial Recognition.
Recognition of TAFE NSW Staff
Many TAFE NSW employees enrol and study in TAFE NSW courses, and at times apply for Recognition of Equivalence for whole courses. As the largest vocational training provider in Australia, TAFE NSW ensures that its policies and practices are fair and ethical. The TAFE NSW Assessment Policy contains a section on Fair and Ethical Practice, providing guidelines on the assessment of TAFE NSW staff.
TAFE NSW staff can be assed by teaching staff with no line management, personal, or close working relationship at the same Institute. Alternatively, assessment should be conducted by teaching staff located at another TAFE NSW Institute. |
