Commercial Recognition allows a candidate to apply for 100% of a TAFE NSW course through previous experience and knowledge.
When to apply?
You can apply for Commercial Recognition anytime during the year.
How much recognition can I get?
You may be entitled to gain Recognition which will exempt you from all of a TAFE NSW course.
How much does Commercial Recognition cost?
The Commercial Recognition process entails an initial interview. The cost of this interview will is $135.
During the interview the assessment process fee will be established. This is determined by the assessor you are meeting. The rate for this assessment process will be $135 per hour.
For example:
Susie wants Commercial Recognition for Diploma of Children’s Services. She has been working in the industry for 7 years and has completed a Certificate at a private college.

How do I apply?
- Contact the Business Centre Coordinator or Institute Recognition Coordinator to speak about process
- Candidate completes registration form and pay $135 interview fee
- After payment received interview is arranged with teaching section
- Head Teacher interviews candidate and prepares the proposal outlining time and cost for RPL process
- Candidate signs & returns acceptance form and registration form (obtained from the assessor). Candidate then pays for RPL service prior to commencement through the Business Centre Coordinator
- RPL assessment begins by teaching section
- Enrolment form and recognition form completed and signed by candidate, assessor and delegate
- Course completion notice or Transcript sent to individual and further consultation arranged if additional training required

Northern Sydney Institute is under no obligation to provide gap training unless available.
Cancellations/re-scheduling of interview requires 7 days notice prior to the commencement of the interview. If not done before this time another interview fee is charged. Cancellations advised in writing more than 7 days prior to the commencement of the recognition process are eligible for a full refund.
