Kazuma Honda - Nursing Trainee
Kazuma started his enrolled nursing Traineeship in February 2006. He has recently completed his second block at TAFE NSW - Northern Sydney Institute.
'Over the past six months I have learnt a great deal, not just about nursing, but also how to communicate with people, take care of them and have patience.' says Kazuma.
The skills he has gained from the teachers and trainers he says 'are invaluable' and they have made his learning experience an enjoyable one.
Over the course of the year the nurses will have gained almost eight months clinical placement in a variety of wards and nursing areas, gaining much needed hands-on experience.
As well as the clinical placement, during classroom sessions each week, the enrolled nursing Trainees visit a number of different hospitals and nursing homes, giving them a great insight into the world of nursing.
Kazuma enjoys every bit of the nursing course and it has helped him to realise his dream of becoming a nurse.
Walaiporn Na Bangchang - Hairdressing Apprentice
My name is Walaiporn. I moved to Australia from Thailand three and a half years ago and I am now in the second year of my hairdressing apprenticeship.
I am doing the TAFE part of my hairdressing apprenticeship at TAFE NSW - Northern Sydney Institute's North Sydney College.
I have also completed the Nail Technology Certificate II and Make-up Certificate II here at the College.
All of the teachers have excellent industry knowledge and have always been friendly and helpful, offering me good advice when I have had a problem with my study or work.
I have been able to meet lots of new friends which has helped me develop my language skills.

The future for Jenny involves a Bachelor of Social Work through distance education at Charles Sturt University and establishing a support group for people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
