Health, Fitness and Community Services

This industry sector incorporates Child and Family Services, Community Services and Welfare, Fitness and Sport, Remedial Massage, Aromatherapy, Nursing and Aged Care.

Child and Family Services is offered at Crows Nest and Meadowbank Colleges. Community Services Welfare is offered at North Sydney, Northern Beaches and Meadowbank Colleges.

North Sydney and Northern Beaches specialise in Home and Community Care, Northern Beaches specialises in Alcohol and Other Drugs and Mental Health and Meadowbank specialise in Youth Work and Disability Work.

Both Meadowbank and Northern Beaches also offer Community Services (Service Co-ordination) and Lifestyle and Leisure courses. The teaching sections have many close links with industry and develop innovative teaching methods often delivering flexibly to those already working in the industry. Traineeships are offered in both Community Services Youth Work and Disability Work.

Fitness and Sport is offered at Northern Beaches and Meadowbank Colleges with Meadowbank offering the diploma level courses in Fitness, Athletic Support Services and Sports Marketing. Northern Beaches offers Certificate III and IV Fitness and now specialises in Sports and Recreation in Events and Facilities. Remedial Massage is offered at Meadowbank College.

Northern Sydney Institute is recognised for it quality deliver of the Certificate IV in Nursing (Enrolled Nursing) forthe Department of Health and the Nursing and Midwifery Board.  The course is delivered in specialist facilities. As well as offering the Certificate IV in Nursing (Enrolled Nursing), North Sydney and Meadowbank Colleges deliver this program as well as a range of Aged Care programs.

NSI has recently developed a Dialysis Education for Enrolled Nurses in partnership with Fresenius Medical Care.
