Hair and Beauty

The Hair and Beauty sector has seen job growth in the last five years and is forecast to continue to grow strongly - well above employment growth in some other sectors. Job vacancies are classed as high. This growth is linked to the growth in personal services within the economy.

Sydney Academy of Hairdressing, Beauty and Makeup is situated at three locations across the Institute - Northern Beaches, North Sydney, and Meadowbank Colleges. Northern Beaches offers hairdressing and recently expanded their salons to meet the increased demand in the area.

We offer short courses in make-up and nails and are currently undergoing a major refurbishment to include a state of the art beauty and makeup room to accommodate the growth in this area.

North Sydney College offers hairdressing, beauty therapy, make-up and nail technology and specialises in the Diploma of Make-up and the Certificate IV in Make-up for Film, Television and Theatre and conjunction with the only Film, Television and Digital Media unit in TAFE NSW. Meadowbank offers hairdressing, beauty therapy, make-up and nail technology and offers fast-track commercial programs in Certificate III in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.

We deliver the Certificate III in Beauty Therapy as a mainstream course and offer 'gap' training from the Certificate III to Certificate IV and 'gap' training from Certificate IV to Diploma.

NSI has partnered with Pivot Point International Inc and, as a Pivot Point Member, students have access to pivot Point's comprehensive internationally recognised educational resources combined with a TAFE NSW quality hairdressing qualification. This arrangement also provides students with access to the very latest fashions and techniques.
