Ben Jones - Certificate III in Plumbing

Third year plumbing apprentice Ben Jones is studying Plumbing, Drainage and Gasfitting, which is part of the Certificate III in Plumbing at TAFE NSW - Northern Sydney Institute's North Sydney College.

Ben chose plumbing as a career because he says 'it pays well and is quite challenging.' Now working full-time and attending class one day a week, he believes that the course has given him more opportunities for his chosen career.

'An apprenticeship is a big commitment and a balancing act - it requires oganisation and the ability to balance study with a full-time job' says Ben. He feels that each day of class makes a nice change to work and his classes give him the opportunity to learn extra skills that he wouldn't normally learn on-the-job.

Ben would recommend a plumbing apprenticeship to anyone that had the inclination. His motto is, 'Don't consider it, just do it.'
