A huge range of career options exist in Australia's automotive, boat building and maritime industries, with an increase in demand for skilled professionals ensuring employment opportunities now and into the future.
We can help you gain the skills and qualifications needed for these industries, through our wide selection of courses and state of the art facilities. TAFE NSW - Northern Sydney Institute delivers innovative programs, industry-recognised credentials and varied learning options.
Recognition for prior learning and experience is available for these courses.
Automotive Industry
The automotive industry comprises a large sector of the Australian economy, with an annual turnover of $50 billion and employment in excess of 300,000.
Skill shortages exist in the automotive industry. As a result, there is a high demand for capable, passionate people to work in the industry.
A range of courses and short programs are delivered throughout the Institute in the following areas:
- Automotive Mechanical
- Automotive Electrical
- Automotive Vehicle Body / Panel Beating
- RTA Examiner/Proprietor Accreditation
Maritime Industry
Boat Building / Shipwrights
Boat building has increasing demand in areas located outside of Sydney, such as the south coast. Boat Builders and Shipwrights are employed across several industries including: Other Transport Equipment Manufacturing; Recreational Goods Retailing; and Building Completion Services. Employment growth within the industry over the next 5 years is expected to be good.
Industry Partnerships
NSI has a strong partnership with Scientific Management Associates and the Royal Australian Navy in the provision of training including Basic and Advanced Glass Reinforced Plastics. This relationship has been established for over a decade and continues to grow.
